70 years old singer and actor Freddy Quinn, who represented Germany at the first Eurovision Song Contest in 1956 with So geht das jede Nacht was facing an investigation by the Hamburg fiscal authority and the police this Friday. He was suspected of tax evasion and illegal possession of arms. Quinn claimed his innocence.

A mad fan is said to have accused the singer, as Quinns wife and manager, Lilli Blessmann, told the press. This was a clear revenge: A female fan, who was rejected, accused him. The fiscal authority refused any comments on the case, recurring on the tax secret. Alleged suspicion of the tax investigators: Quinn, who has his main domicile in Switzerland, actually lives in Hamburg for the most time. The officials are said to have seized several documents and flight tickets. “Freddy has his domicile in Switzerland since 1959, however he came to Hamburg very frequently because I am ill.”, Lilli Blessmann said.

Right after the fiscal authority, the police spent a visit to the messuage. The tax investigators called us because of the frightening amount of weapons in the house., a police speaker reported. However, except for two or three weapons, Mr. Quinn has a permission for all arms. The exceptions are said to be requisites from movies in which Quinn played. The singer said that he is well-known for being a gun collector.

Quinn, who was born in Vienna, Austria, was one of Germanys most popular singers and actors in the fifties and sixties and is known as the singing sailor (although he actually never went to sea). During his career, he sold a total of 60 million records.
