PBS, the Maltese national broadcaster has confirmed to ESCToday.com that Malta will participate at the forthcoming 2015 Eurovision Song Contest in Austria.

Thus Malta is the 14th country to confirm its intention to participate at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest scheduled to be held in Austria next year. Hence Malta joins Austria, Switzerland, Sweden, Iceland, Norway, Denmark, Ireland, Germany, Finland, The Netherlands, Lithuania, Belgium and Estonia in the list of the countries that have confirmed their intention to  participate at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest.

The Maltese broadcaster is yet to confirm the method and mechanism it will use to select its 2015  Eurovision entry and representative. It is more than likely the Mediterrean island will opt for a national selection. In 2014 Malta selected its Eurovision representative via a national selection, as has been the case in the past decade. Firelight won the golden ticket to Copenhagen with their entry Coming Home and represented Malta at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest achieving a 23rd place in the grand final.

Malta debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1971 and is yet to win the event. The beautiful Mediterranean island’s best placing at the Eurovision Song Contest has been in 2003 with Ira Losco  and in 2005 with Chiara. Malta has not missed a single contest since its return in 1991.

The official list of participating countries at the forthcoming 2015 Eurovision Song Contest will be released by the EBU by the end of the year.
