The Common Linnets, the pure country/bluegrass platform initiated by Dutch Singer Ilse DeLange, performed on the Flemisch-Belgian TV-show Hotel M on Thursday the 12th of June 2014. Together with Dutch artist Waylon, Ilse DeLange represented The Netherlands under the name The Common Linnets at this years’ Eurovision Song Contest in Denmark, earning the second place in the grand final. Due to solo-obligations, Waylon has now withdrawn from The Common Linnets-collective.

Live shows

In the show Hotel M, Ilse DeLange performed the Eurovision entry Calm after the storm together with Dutch guitarist and singer-songwriter J.B. Meijers. J.B. Meijers had the inspiration for the Eurovision entry and is co-writer of the song. He is also part of The Common Linnets-collective and performed on stage during Eurovision in Copenhagen, Denmark, as part of the backing group. Ilse and J.B. performed the song in Hotel M standing opposite from each other, just as Ilse and Waylon had done during their performance at Eurovision.

Hotel M is a summer talkshow aired by the Flemisch-Belgian broadcaster Éen and hosted by Marcel Vanthilt, a Flemisch musician and tv-host who is also known as jury-member in various editions of the Flemisch-Belgian preselection of the Eurovision Song Contest, Eurosong, and as co-presentor of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest of 2005. Hotel M will be aired from the city of Roeselare until the 3rd of July, and from the city of Knokke-Heist starting July 28th.

High in iTunes

Four the fifth week in a row, The Common Linnets’ self-titled debut-album can be found in the top of the iTunes-Chart, on number 7. The single Calm after the storm currently stands at number 22. Nationally as well as internationally, The Common Linnets and their entry Calm after the storm are the most successful Eurovision act- and song of the year. Ilse DeLange, founder of The Common Linnets-project, is promoting the album across Europe and planning a subsequent European tour. During this promotion and planned tour, Waylon will be replaced by singer-songwriter Jake Etheridge, because he is obligated to his solo-career and album.
