Helsinki press centre open

The 2007 Eurovision Song Contest press centre is officially open! Although finishing touches are still being added and one or two minor problems are being solved, the press centre is up and running. The accreditaton centre is open and running smoothly, and the area is certainly impressive. esctoday.com is settling into the area and so far, everything is working fine!

The press working area is approximately the same size as last year, with the room split between network internet access for lap tops on one side, and desktop computers on the other. For press members attending in teams, you will need to be quick to get an area in the centre where you can keep team members with and without laptops sitting together.

The press conference area is also a good size, and larger than last year. There is more room for television cameras and additional seating. The table also appears to be longer than last year. There is a photo-opportunity area to the left of the stage and that looks set to be where the crowds will mass towards the end of each press conference this year.

esctoday.com will be bringing you the first videos from the press centre later today, along with the surprise first press conference that is currently taking place in the press conference and a special video interview with this year's Eurovision Song Contest hosts!
