SRF, the  Swiss German speaking national broadcaster has confirmed to ESCToday.com that Switzerland will participate at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest.

The broadcaster will yet again opt for a national final and the same mechanism it used in 2014 to select its Eurovision entry via a national selection process. The Swiss broadcaster is very pleased that their 2014 Eurovision representative Sebalter qualified to the grand final of the Eurovision Song Contest and are now searching for the artist/act that will follow his footsteps next year. Authors, composers, artists can now start preparing their entries for the forthcoming Swiss Eurovision national selection.

SRF will kick off its 2015 Eurovision national selection process as of next autumn. The broadcaster plans to announce the rules and dates of the 2015 Swiss Eurovision national selection in due course. Applicants will be invited to upload their entry on SRF’s official Euovision platform.

Sebalter won the 2014 Swiss Eurovision national final last February and  represented Switzerland at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest with his entry Hunters of stars. Switzerland achieving a 13th place in the grand final in Copenhagen.

Switzerland is one of the founder members of the Eurovision Song Contest, having hosted the very first edition in Lugano in 1956 and winning the very first grand prix with Lys Assia‘s Refrain on home ground. The Helvetic nation has won the event 2 times in 1956 with Lys Assia and in 1988 with Celine Dion’s Ne partez pas sans moi.
