The long journey of the 6 weeks shows of Melodifestivalen 2014 has come to an end; Sweden have picked tonight their representative at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest. Sanna Nielsen will fly the Swedish flag in Copenhagen with the song Undo.

Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest

Sweden debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1958 with the song Lilla stjärna performed by the late Alice Babs. Alice ended in 4th place with a total of 10 points. Sweden have won the contest a total of 5 times; in 1974, 1984, 1991, 1999 and more recently 2012. Sweden hosted the contest last year at the Malmö Arena where a total of 39 countries took part in the competition.

Last year, Robin Stjernberg won the Swedish selection with his song You, earning the right to represent his country at the Eurovision Song Contest in his home country of Sweden. Automatically qualifying to the grand final, Robin ended in 14th place with a total of 62 points.
