On Sunday evening the 23rd of February, the first two finalists for Belgium were decided in semi final 1 of Eurosong 2014.
The four competitors were the mysterious masked group Day One (with the song Whoever You Are), Eva Jacobs (Nothing Is Impossible), Udo (Hero-In Flanders Fields) and Petra (Killer Touch).
The jury members (Bart Peeters, Piet Goddaer, Jef Martens and 2004 ESC winner Ruslana ) first commented on the performances and rated the songs, which resulted in Eva Jacobs (91 points total) and Day One (90 points total) coming out on top. Both Udo and Petra received 75 points in total from the jury members, earning a third and fourth position in the jury poll.
Then it was time for the televoters to make the final decision. During the televote, there was a brief chat with the 2012 Belgian Eurovision contender Iris and a performance by 2013 Belgian representative, Roberto Bellarosa, who sang his Eurovision entry Love Kills. In the end, the two lucky ones to go through to the final on the 16th of March in Antwerp were Eva Jacobs (1st place) and Udo (2nd place). Day One came in 3rd place, followed by Petra in 4th place.
So, we will see Eva Jacobs and Udo again in the grand final of Eurosong 2014! Stay tuned to esctoday.com for the latest news on Belgium and the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest.
