Malta: PBS receives a record breaking 210 entries for national selection

PBS, the Maltese national broadcaster has announced today that it has received a record breaking 210 entries for the forthcoming 2014 Maltese Eurovision national selection.

The  Maltese broadcaster will now evaluate all the submitted entries and select a total of 20 songs that will compete in the forthcoming Maltese  Eurovision national selection. PBS will announce the names of the lucky 20 entries/acts later this month.

The 2014 Maltese national selection will consist of 2 shows, a semfinal with 20 entries and the grand final where the top 14 entries from the semfinal will battle for the golden ticket to Copenhagen.

The dates for the semifinal and final have not been confirmed yet.

Gianluca Bezzina represented Malta at the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest  in Malmo with his entry Tomorrow,bringing back Malta into the Top 10 yet again, achieving an honorable 8th place in the final.

Malta debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1971 and is yet to winthe event. The beautiful Mediterranean island’s best placing at the Eurovision Song Contest has been in 2003 with Ira Losco  and in 2005 with Chiara. Malta has not missed a single contest since its return in 1991.
