ORF, the Austrian national broadcaster has confirmed to esctoday.com that the 2014 Austrian entry will be selected via an internal selection. Conchita Wurst and ORF will select the 2014 Austrian Eurovision entry together.

Esctoday.com has learned there will be no televised selection show in Austria to select the Austrian Eurovision entry and that ORF is planning to reveal Conchita’s Eurovision entry most likely by next February.

Last month ORF, the Austrian national broadcaster confirmed to esctoday.com that Conchita Wurst had been internally selected to represent Austria at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The news regarding the 2014 Austrian representative leaked out last September in the Austrian press. The Austrian broadcaster then confirmed to esctoday.com that Conchita Wurst would indeed be the 2014 Eurovision representative.

Thus Austria joins FYR Macedonia and San Marino in selecting their 2014 Eurovision representative via an internal selection.

Conchita Wurst tried to represent Austria at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2012 when she competed at the 2012 Austrian national final but missed out to Trakshittaz who won the golden ticket to Baku.

Austria debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1957 with Bob Martin and has won the event once in 1966 withUdo Jurgens’ Merci Cheri.

Natalia Kelly represented Austria at the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest with her entry Shine.
