A high number of submissions were received at SVT, the Swedish broadcaster for the upcoming Melodifestivalen. A total of 2067 of the submissions were submitted by mail, while the rest 561 were submitted online.
Time’s up!
Wednesday 18 September, 09:00 CET was the deadline for composers and authors to submit their songs to the Swedish broadcaster.
“The submissions number is on par with last year and we had probably hoped for less.” commented Mr Christer Björkman, producer of Melodifestivalen 2014. “It’s fun to see the the commitment [of the songwriters] and although there are few more entries than last year, it is a manageable number of submission” Mr Björkman concluded.
The process
A jury panel will now select 15 songs out of the 2628 submissions. 16 more contestants will be decided by SVT. One name which is already confirmed out of those 16 is the trio band EKO who won the Svensktoppen Nästa 2013.
Announcement of the Melodifestivalen 2014 participations is expected later in the fall.
