Poland: meet the finalists

TVP have now confirmed the list of participants for the 2007 Polish national final Piosenka dla Europy. esctoday.com wants to give you the opportunity to learn more about the contestants.

The finalists are confirmed as:

  1. Vino – Come in my heart
  2. The Jet Set – Time to party
  3. Charizma – Emily
  4. Kuba& Maciek Moleda – No second chance
  5. Natasza Urbanska – I like it loud
  6. Bikini – Don't judge me
  7. Button Hackers – On my mind
  8. Ania Szarmach – Open your mind
  9. Hania Stach – Regroup
  10. Erlandsson Mikael – Love in the air

The five songs chosen by a jury of TVP employees are:

  1. Lidia – It must be love
  2. Zee – All that I can be
  3. Kabri – Flow like a stream
  4. Sandra Oldenstam – You really got me going
  5. Plastic – Wake up with your music

Eurovision Song Contest fans might remember The Jet Set: With their song How many people? they finished third in the 2006 Polish final.Later the song appearedin the OGAE second chance contest, but finished in last place with 'nil points'.

Newcomer Ania Szarmach has just released her first album called Sharmi that contains songs in Polish and in English. Her entry Open your mind is also taken from that CD. You can visit Ania Szarmach's official website here.

Natasza Urbanska is a well known Theatre Buffo actress fro Warsaw. Among others, she has already played the Juliet in Romeo and Juliet – the Musical.

The duo Kuba& Maciek Moleda have already published several singles album.22 year old Hubaand 30 year old Maciek have also appeared on some Disney movie soundtracks, among others the Polish version of Mulan. You can visit their official website here.

Button Hackers consist of Piotr Chołołowicz, Paweł Steczekand Jakub Mietła. This year, they won the Festiwal Jedynki. Their style of music is described as a mixture of rock, smooth jazz, funk and chillout. You can visit the official website here.

Swedish rock band Charizma became famous in 1985 when they released their first album Rock the world. Formed by three teenage brothers,Charizma soon became famous all over planet. All in all, they published five albums and five singles in different versions. The slogan: We want to communicate with the audience, make it more than just a concert experience. Another Swedish star is among the finalists: Erlandsson Mikaelalso has some Eurovision Song Contest experience – he took part in the 1990 Swedish national final as composer of the song Vi vill ha värme that finished 5th, performed by N'Gang. In 2005, he released his The very best of album.

Hania Stach is used to take part in contests: She participated in the second edition of Polish Idol. Although she didn't win, she started her career right after, releasing her debut album and two singles, one in English the other one in Polish. You can find her official website here.

Zee might be the singer who took part in the semi final of the 2002 British final but was disqualified since her song was already published on a Hungarian CD in 2001. Nevertheless, Zee is a common name: Richard Wright's and Dave Harris' not very succesful band was called the same.

Vino, Bikini, Lidia, Kabri, Sandra Oldenstam and Plastic all seem to be newcomers that haven't achieved remarkable success yet. If you know anything about these artists, feel free to use the contact form!

The Polish final will take place in Warsaw on 3rd February. The winner will be chosen by televoting. This year, Poland finished 11th in the Eurovision Song Contest semi final. Ich Troje feat. Real McCoy missed the qualification for the final round by only 6 points with their song Follow my heart. Therefore, Poland will have to enter the semi final once again in Helsinki.
