Georgia: GPB confirm participation in 2014

GPB, the Georgian national broadcaster has informed and confirmed to esctoday.com that Georgia will participate at the forthcoming 2014 Eurovision Song Contest in Denmark. The method and mechanism to select the 2014 Georgian entry is yet to be determined.

It is yet unclear how Georgia will select their 2014 Eurovision entry. In 2013 GPB opted for an internal selection when Sopho and Nodi got the honour of flying the Georgian flag in Malmo with Thomas G.sson’s Waterfall.

Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Albania, Iceland, Ireland, San Marino and Belgium have all confirmed their participation at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest next year in Denmark.  Whilst Belarus has said they will most likely be in the competition next year.

Sophie Gelovani and Nodi Tatishvili  represented Georgia at the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest in Malmo with Waterfall and achieved a 15th place in the final.

Georgia debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2007 with Sopho Khalvashi‘sVisionary Dream. The country is yet to win the event and their  best placing at the contest has been a 9th place in 2010 with Sopho Nizharadze‘s Shine and in 2011 with Eldrine‘s One more day.
