According to several sources, including oikotimes.com, eurowizja.pl and our very own forum, the Czech Republic will participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2007. Although the news is said to be confirmed by the public broadcaster, Ceská Televize, initiatives to take part in 2005 and 2006 failed due to financial restrictions.

To our colleagues of oikotimes.com, music editor Radim Smetana of Ceská Televize said that a delegation of observers will be present in Athens to learn more about the organisation of the contest, traditions and procedures. A Czech public television spokesperson also confirmed their intentions to several fans who emailed with questions about eventual participation.

In 2004, the Czech Republic withdrew after the official announcement of the participants list, on 3rd December.

Official subscribtion for the 2007 contest has not yet started, so Czech television didn't file their participation officially yet. Esctoday.com asked the European Broadcasting Union for confirmation of the broadcaster's intentions. A reaction can be expected tomorrow morning.

I was born on March 27th 1992 in Bucharest, Romania. When I was 13 years old, I watched the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest accidentally and since then I have been a big fan of this amazing European celebration. I'm working for Esctoday.com since 2006 and I'm very proud to be part of this wonderful team.
