Moldova will select its second Eurovision Song Contest entry at the end of February, the show will follow much the same format as in 2005. Dorel Samoila said that to DotEurovision.com. Meanwhile, the government has agreed to provide funding to ensure that the entry has a professional video clip and that the artists can undertake an overseas promotional tour.
“The deadline to submit songs to the contest is 4th February. Shortly after this, we will have an internal selection at TRM, where a jury will decide on the 15 finalists that will perform in a national final at the end of February”, Samiola said.
TMR is accepting submissions from both individuals and record companies for the competition. Once again, there will be no restriction on the language used in songs and it will be viewers who will have the final say over who goes to Athens through telephone and SMS voting.
Moldova made its debut at the 2005 contest and thanks to the sixth place of Zdob si Zdub, they are now guaranteed a place in the final of the 2006 contest.
