Polish broadcaster TVP will not participate in the 2005 Junior Eurovision Song Contest, to be held on 26th November in Hasselt, Belgium. The information has been confirmed by Mr Aleksander Palac from TVP, who was previously responsible for the last two Polish Junior National Finals.

In a phone conversation with esctoday.com, Aleksander Palac said that the president of TVP Jan Dworak has already confirmed a document withdrawing Poland from the contest despite having signed a 3 year contract.

Although a wishlist of possible participants for the Polish national finals has been recently spread on the Internet, it is now official that Polish children will not get a chance to represent their country on stage in Hasselt, where the 3rd edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest will be held.

In 2003, Katarzyn Zurawik represented Poland with the song Cos mnie nosi and finished 16th (last) with 3 points, and in 2004 KWADro placed 17th, also gaining 3 points and coming last, with their song Lap zycie.

Esctoday.com are awaiting further reactions and an explanation of the background to this decision.
