Belgium is celebrating 175 years of independence and 25 years of federalism this year. For this occasion the exposition Made in Belgium opened in Brussels yesterday. Among the 4.000 objects exposed, Sandra Kim's 1986 Eurovision Song Contest trophy is starring.
“I really wanted to see my Eurovision Song Contest trophy,” said Sandra Kim at the opening of the exposition Made in Belgium. “It's a beautiful one. They gave it a very good position. I'm really impressed.” The trophy is just one of the 4.000 objects reminding of the glorious days in 175 of Belgian history.
The opening of the expostion was attended by Belgium's King Albert and Queen Paola, who had a chat with the celebrities present. Queen Paola, who's from Italian origin just like Sandra Kim, asked Belgium's only Eurovision Song Contest winner the highly interesting question “Who are you?” According to Sandra Kim the queen couldn't remember who she was.
At the age of 13, Sandra Kim became the Eurovision Song Contest's youngest winner when she won in Bergen with the song J'aime la vie. Belgium's only Eurovision Song Contest victory will also be reviewed during the Belgian national final, to be broadcast live on La1 on Sunday 20th March.
