Finally it's official! At the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev, Greece will be represented by Helena Paparizou. Greek broadcaster ERT today officially announced its decision. Paparizou will represent her country for the second time. In 2001 she finished third with the song Die for you as lead singer of the duo Antique.

After several months of speculations and internal discussions at ERT, the Greek broadcaster today saved the situation by saying that Helena Paparizou will represent Greece at the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev.

Helena Paparizou earlier represented Greece at the Eurovision Song Contest with great success. Together with Nikos Panagiotidis, she formed the duo Antique that reached the third place at the 2001 Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen. At that moment they reached the best ever result for Greece with the song Die for you.

Helena Paparizou was born and raised in Sweden and is a well known performer in the Scandinavian countries. In a press release, ERT states that this is “a factor which surely contributed to the final choice of Paparizou, since the 'northern' votes are considered to be important.” Later on, ERT will hold a press conference as far as the selection of a song is concerned.

Due to Sakis Rouvas' third place in Istanbul, Helena Paparizou will represent Greece in the final of the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest.
