Next week Thursday Monaco will decide whether it will participate at next year's Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev as Monegasque delegation leader Philippe Boscagli will be meeting Gérald Brice Viret, director of Monegasque broadcaster TMC. If Monaco participates, singer and song will be chosen internally, in cooperation with the record company concerned.
At the end of September, Monaco will announce whether it will participate at next year's Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev. If the answer is positive, the right song will be chosen later on.
Although Monaco hasn't decided yet whether it will be present in Kiev, several popular French singers, including Lorie and Nolwenn Leroy (winner of Star Academy 2 in France) have already been contacted. Lorie's management however declined the proposal and stated that she won't represent any country at next year's Eurovision Song Contest.
Furthermore Monegasque broadcaster TMC states to be open for song suggestions. “This year everyone is free to submit their proposals concerning songs to TMC. The direction of TMC will select singer and song in cooperation with the record company concerned” says Monegasque delegation leader Philippe Boscagli.
Monaco returned to the Eurovision Song Contest this year in Istanbul after they hadn't participated for a period of 24 years. With Notre planète, the Monegasque representative Märyon however wasn't successful and ended only 20th in the qualifier round.
All countries wishing to participate at the Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev next year should inform the European Broadcasting Union before 30th September 2004.
