Our Athens correspondent just told esctoday.com that Sakis Rouvas currently carries the Olympic torch on it's way from the Acropolis to the Athens Olympic Sports Complex, where the opening ceremony takes place tonight.

Sakis received the torch at so-called Slot 55, passing the Panathinaiko Stadium, which is widely known as the Kallimnarmaro, the stadium where the first modern Olympics took place in 1896. During the 2004 Olympics, the stadium will have a 34,500 capacity for the Marathon finish and 7,500 for Archery.

As reported in sportsfeatures.com earlier this week, it seems that the Greeks are eager to show Rouvas their gratitude. Naomi Campbell (who will most likely receive the torch from Sakis Rouvas) Carl Lewis and Kati Garbi (Greece 1993) will also carry the torch today on its way to the ceremony.
