On 17th May, two days after the final of the Eurovision Song Contest, a survey about the Eurovision Song Contest was done among 700 Dutchmen by order of Dutch commercial broadcaster SBS 6.

The survey had a very clear conclusion: the Dutchmen are annoyed by the way of voting at the Eurovision Song Contest. Only 10% finds this televoting system fair!

Re-union ended too low
Hardly anyone of the 700 questioned Dutchmen said that Re-union should have won the Eurovision Song Contest but 28% thought they deserved top 5. 40% believed a place between 6th and 10th place would have been fair, 19% found that Re-union reached the position they deserved.

Cyprus was the best, not Turkey
The survey also included a voting that shows significant differences with the outcome of the televoting results of the Netherlands. According to the survey, Cyprus was the real favourite of the Dutch audience. Turkey, which received the 12 points from the Netherlands, only ended 11th! Quoting the survey: The Turkish community in the Netherlands seems to have succeded in televoting Turkey to the first place, just like they did in Germany, Belgium and France. Malta suffered the most of the televoting system being the number 2 in the survey and not having received one single point by televoting.
Runner-up Serbia & Montenegro that ended second in the televote only reached the 6th place in this survey. For some countries like Ukraine, Belgium and Germany, the result of the televote and the survey are quite corresponding.

“The Netherlands should withdraw if the voting system doesn't change”
The survey clearly shows how displeased the Dutchmen are. 60% says that the Netherlands should withdraw from next year's Eurovision Song Contest if the voting system doesn't change! The Dutchmen prefer a combination of a country wide jury and a professional jury instead. Only 13% wants to continue with the current televoting system.
