According to the Turkish newspaper Milliyet, the Turkish broadcaster cancelled the negotiations with Enrique Iglesias. Weeks ago, Eurovision Song Contest 2004 executive producer Bulent Osma confirmed that the Spanish singer would co-host the upcoming contest.
Milliyet wrote that Iglesias asked $100.000 to host the Eurovision Song Contest, but that TRT insiders are afraid of more negative responses from the public. Asking a foreign star to host the show was already a sensitive issue among the Turkish audience and the contest's fans, broadcaster TRT fears more negative public opinion when they would pay $100.000 for him.
Still, a 'star' will co-host the upcoming contest together with the Turkish actress Meltem Cumbul. TRT has not yet confirmed the story officially.
