After several disappointing results at the Eurovision Song Contest, Bosnia-Herzegovina is about to change the way in which the song for the contest is selected this year.
Vesna Andree Zaimovic will act as head of the selection committee of BH Eurosong 2004. She was on stage with Dino & Beatrice at the Eurovision Song Contest 1999. She is currently head of the musical department at Bosnian Radio 1 and has a master's degree in musicology.
Earlier rumours that 2003 runner up Deen had already been offered the place in Istanbul have proven to be not true! Broadcaster PBS BiH has announced that submissions are now being accepted for the contest, the closing date will be 9th January, 2004. The final selection will be made by a professional jury. Speculations going around suggest that Deen remains the front runner for the job.
Anyone interested in entering the contest – you should be 16 years old at the time of 5th March – is required to submit a biography, a CD featuring three songs, videos of two live performances, copies of any existing albums, reviews and interviews and confirmation that they have paid their TV licence. The issue of the TV licence is controversial since the fee is unpopular in Bosnia with many refusing to pay it. Public broadcaster PBS BiH is facing financial difficulties as a result.
PBS BiH announced that it is looking for performers “who are able to vocally and performance-wise deal with the standards of modern pop music”.
