The UK Songsearch competition, organised by the British Academy of Songwriters and Composers (BASC), has received 940 entries for the British search for a suitable Eurovision Song Contest entry.

Judges are currently shifting through the submitted entries and the winner will go forward to the UK selection for the Eurovision Song Contest in 2004.

The BBC will unveil details of the new show to replace Song for Europe along with songs and performers at a press conference mid January. The show will come live from BBC Television Centre in London transmitting prime time on Saturday night late February or early March. The exact date will be decided next month.
