Two former Eurovision winners will be on stage at the Melodifestivalen 2004, the Swedish preselection. Carola, who won the event in 1991, will participate as a singer while Charlotte Nilsson, the winner of the 1999 Eurovision Song Contest, is one of the hosts.

Carola Häggkvist has participated twice in the Eurovision Song Contest. In 1983 she achieved 3rd place with the song Främling (Stranger), eight years later she won the event in Rome with Fångad av en stormvind (Captured by a lovestorm). She is still very popular in Sweden and that is why the Swedish broadcaster SVT wants to give her one of the four wildcards for the Melodifestivalen 2004. According to the newspaper Expressen, Carola is about to accept that invitation.

Charlotte Nilsson, the winner of the 1999 Eurovision Song Contest with Take me to your heaven, will not participate as singer in Melodifestivalen 2004 but she will be on stage anyway. According to yet another newspaper, Aftonbladet, SVT have asked her to be one of the co-hosts. A male co-host will appear next to her on stage.
