Russia: Dima Bilan wins Best Male Singer Award!

Last Friday the annual Russian MUZ TV Awards were held at the Olympiskii Stadium in Moscow. The Russians organized a grand show full of glamour, glitz and splendour. Many Eurovision stars attended and graced the ocassion, some of them performed, others were nominated and many walked off with an award.

Dima Bilan, Sergey Lazarev, Phillip Kirkorov, Ell and Nikki from Azerbaijan, Arash andMuimmy Troll were among the many who attended the ocassion. German rock band Tokio Hotel were invited as special guests to perform whilst Hollywood sensation Sharon Stone was invited as a guest of honour.

The 2008 Russian Eurovision winner Dima Bilanwas nominated at the 2011 MUZ TV Awards in many categories: Best Male Singer, Best Song, Best Videoclip. He once again won the MUZTVBest Male Singer Award. Sergey Lazarev who has tried torepresent Russia at the Eurovision Song Contest before, andwho is amongRussia's most sought after singers, was also nominatedin theBest Male Singer category. Sergey received the Best Album Award.

Russian 2001 Eurovision representatives rock band Muimmy Troll won the Best Rock Band Award. Ukrainian superstar Ani Lorak,the 2008 Ukrainian Eurovision representative,was nominated in the Best Female Category, but missed out to Vera Brezhneva who was awarded the Best Female Singer Award. RussiansuperstarPhiliip Kirkorov, the 1995 Russian Eurovision representative andreceived the Best Duet Award along with Anna Nebretko. Russian band A Studio won the award for Best Pop Band. The show was hosted by Ksenia Sobchak and Ivan Joblistin.

The 2011 Eurovision winners Ell and Niki from Azerbaijan graced the ocassion and treated all the Russian viewers to their winning entry Running Scared. The 2009 Azeri representative Arashwas also invited to perform on stage.
