Ireland’s 2005 representative, Donna McCaul, has announced that she would compete at the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest in Israel, despite calls from former representatives in the country to boycott the event next year.

Things are shaping up in preparation of next year’s Eurovision. Donna McCaul releaved to the Irish Sun that she would represent Ireland in Israel, and she would even have the perfect song ready!

It’s about unity and inspiring people

The singer does not listen to her countryman and Eurovision winner Charlie McGettigan, who last week called for a Eurovision boycott. According to Donna:

Eurovision is like the Olympics, it’s about unity and inspiring people

In addition, Donna McCaul affirms that she has been waiting for her chance to represent her home country, and would be excited to finally be able to fly the Irish flag at next year’s Eurovision in Israel.

On his side, McGettigan, who won the Eurovision for Ireland in 1994 with Paul Harrington and the song Rock ‘n’ Roll Kids, revealed to RTÉ Radio 1 that he believed Ireland should boycott the event if it is not held in another country, or cancelled altogether.

Before discovering if Donna McCaul will represent Ireland for the second time, let’s watch her first appearance in 2005 in Kiev, Ukraine.
