Albania: Jonida Maliqi to host Festivali i Këngës 49

It has been announced that Jonida Maliqi, singer and songwriter, will host all 3 live shows of the Albanian national final. Meanwhile, today is the last day for Albanian artists to submit their songs for Festivali i Këngës 49.

After Switzerland, Albania will be the second country to choose in December their representative for the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest.

Today is the last day to submit songs for the 49 edition of Festivali i Këngës that will take place on December 23rd and 24th. The grand final will take place on the 25th of December.

Since Albania entered Eurovision Song Contest, it has been now a tradition that singers host FiK. According to the local press, Jonida Maliqi, famous singer and songwriter, will host the Albanian national final. Jonida has already been part of Festivali i Këngës in the past. She participated several times and her best results were in 2004, where she finished 3rd with her song Frikem se më pëlqen. Her last participation was in 2006, but we have seen her almost every year at FiK stage during the duet nights. Jonida won’t be alone on stage during the three live shows. Two male artists will join her as co-hosts.
