After winning the country’s long selection process, The Next Star, earlier this year, the chosen Israeli representative has revealed her song for Eurovision 2018, entitled Toy.

Israel’s Eurovision entry is officially here! Following an early leak of the country’s entry, the Israeli broadcaster has now officially released Toy, Israel and Netta’s bidding song at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.

Described as a middle eastern pop banger, Israel’s 2018 entry fuses together contemporary pop, K-pop and hip-hop, sure to bring the crowd to their feet in Lisbon this coming May.

About Toy

The song was written by Doron Medalie and Stav Beger. Doron Medalie also wrote Israel’s 2015 and 2016 entries, Golden boy and Made of stars. He has also worked with other past Israeli Eurovision representatives, such as Lior Narkis and Harel Skaat.

Medalie also direct the Israel Eurovision entry on three occasions – in 2008, 2010 and 2013.

Toy is a song with lyrics which focus on the awakening on female power and social justice, with the main message of the song coming from the entry’s chorus – “I’m not your toy”.

Toy is co-produced by Tedy Productions, Kan – the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation – and Israel’s biggest media company, Keshet 12.

Netta Barzilai will compete for Israel with the song Toy in the first half of the first semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 on Tuesday 8 May.
