Romania at Eurovision

Romania debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994 and has been counting 18 participations since. Although the country is yet to win the competition, the Romanians have enjoyed 3 Top 5 placings and have never been eliminated in the semi-finals, since the system’s introduction in 2004. The best result of the Eastern European country is 3rd place, achieved on two occasions, namely in 2005 and in 2010.

In 2017, Romania sent to Kyiv the yodeler Ilinca, accompanied by Alex Florea with the song Yodel it!. The duet managed to qualify to the Grand Final on 13 May and finished in a remarkable 7th place.

Romania will compete in the 1st half of the second semi-final evening on 8 May in Lisbon.
