Iceland: Results of Söngvakeppnin 2018 second semi-final; final line-up known

The first step for Iceland’s Eurovision 2018 entrant has been done! The lights of the Háskólabíó center are now extinguished, with the completion of the second and last semi-final of the country’s national selection procedure, Söngvakeppnin 2018.

Tonight saw a further 6 acts fight for the only 3 available spots in the event’s Grand Final, which will take place on 3 March at the Laugardalshöll arena in Reykjavik.

But who are the last finalists?

Via a combined public and jury vote, each having a 50% say, the 3 acts progressing to the final evening are:

  • Aron Hannes – Golddigger
  • Dagur SigurðarsonÍ stormi
  • Attan – Hér með þér

These selected songs are joining the 3 acts already advanced to the final via the first semi-final round last week:

  • Fókus hópurinn – Aldrei gefast upp
  • Ari Ólafsson – Heim
  • Heimilistónar – Kúst og fæjó

Thus, the remaing 3 participating songs are now out of the competition:

In Söngvakeppnin’s final, each artist is free to choose the language in which his song will be interpreted. However, this must be the language in which the song will be performed at Eurovision.

The final of 3 March sees a total of 6 acts patricipate in te hope of Iceland’s representation at Lisbon’s first ever Eurovision Song Contest. On 3 March, we will find out who the lucky one will be. Stay tuned!

Söngvakeppnin 2018 schedule

Iceland will take part in the 1st half of the first semi-final on 8 May. The Eurovision Song Contest will be held on 8, 10 and 12 May at the Altice Arena in Lisbon, Portugal.
