Last night, we saw half of the 12 qualifiers competing in the third heat of the Israeli national selection, The Next Star. Which acts managed to advance to the next stage of the competition?

With 12 artists qualifying in the previous heat of The Next Star, last night saw the first 6 of the artists competing in yet another duel phase of the competition, hoping to gain a place in the next stage of the selection.

From tonight’s 6 participants, 5 have qualified to the next phase of The Next Star, whilst 1 artist was eliminated from the selection… at least, that’s what the original set up of the show was supposed to entail.

Five acts advance, one withdraws…

In last night’s show, the artists were split into the following duels (artists in bold won their duel):

Duel 1

  • Rinat Bar (50%)
  • Howie Danao (82%)

Duel 2

  • José Steinberg (82%)
  • Shay & Gilad (36%)

Duel 3

  • Ravit Batashvili (76%)
  • Riki Ben Ari (56%)

With the first 3 qualifiers known, a fourth and final duel took place with the remaining initial 3 non-qualifiers, each had a second chance of advancing to the next round of the contest.

Shay & Gilad were first to perform in their second duel, receiving a total of 50% of the ‘Yes’ vote, before it was Rinat Bar’s turn to take to the stage.

Following her performance, however, Bar decided to withdraw from the competition after receiving 49%, therefore meaning that both Shay & Gilad together with Riki Ben Ari have advanced.

The 5 qualifiers

  • Howie Danao
  • José Steinberg
  • Ravit Batashvili
  • Shay & Gilad
  • Riki Ben Ari

In the next show of the Israeli national selection, the remaining 6 artists will compete in the duel stage of the competition for their place in the next stage of the competition.

As with last night’s show, 5 acts will advance whilst 1 act will be eliminated from the competition.

What do you think of last night’s results? Are you satisfied with the 5 qualifiers?
