The song

Life looks better in spring is a mid-tempo guitar pop song. Through the lyrics of the break-up song, the singer tells about his hopes for a reunification:

I still remember everything
That old December, the fears, the cold
I really wonder how you feel
On these nights, all alone…

Tell me
Tell me about your feelings
Tell me about your stories
Look into my eyes and come on closer
And make me immortal with a kiss

The performers

Jon Lilygreen is from Wales. Although he has been frequently performing in clubs and pubs in his home town of Newport, he can be considered a newcomer in the music scene. He was discovered by the songwriters Nasos Lambrianides and Melis Konstantinou on the internet, where they found one of his demo recordings. They invited him to perform the song Life looks better in spring in the Cypriot national final, which he would also win.

During the national final, he was suported by the international group The Islanders consisting of Jon Gregory from Wales, Sean Watts from England, Katherine Squire from Scotland, Sylvia Stand from Norway and Charalambos Kallona from Cyprus. They will also perform with him in Oslo.

The songwriters

The Cypriot entry was written by Nasos Lambrianides (music and lyrics) and Melis Konstantinou (music). Nasos Lambrianides is a University of Manchester alumni and he was also a part of Cyprus' military orchestra. Melis Konstantinou has performed with various rock bands. Life looks better in spring was their first song to be made public to a bigger audience.

The national selection

The Cypriot entry was chosen during a national final. Nine acts competed and the winner was chosen by a mxture of televoting and jury voting.

Cyprus in the Eurovision Song Contest

Cyprus debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1981 and had a very good start finishing sixth and fifth in its first two participations. Some lower results followed, but the country managed to equal the fifth place in 1997 and 2004, which also marked the last top ten placing to date. The last appearance in the final was in 2005.
