The Eurovision selection in Israel continues to passionate, as the country discovers the sixteenth episode of The Next Star. The quest to the rare pearl goes on.

It is one of the busiest schedules of all the contests. With fifteen episodes within two months, Israel is providing Eurofans with a lot to talk about, and especially with a lot to watch.

The Next Star 2018 continues tonight in Israel with the sixteenth show. Contestants will as for the previous shows try to convince the audience and the jury to become the Israeli representative to the Eurovision in Lisbon next year.

How to watch

The Next Star 2018 will air this evening at 20:00 CET (21:00 local time) on the following channels:

The show

Hosted by Assi Azar and Rotem Sela, tonight will see artists from across the country of Israel performing and auditioning for the place in the competition, with hopes of representing the nation at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest.

Being judged and voted for by a combined public and jury vote, each of tonight’s acts will need to receive a total of 70% of the ‘Yes’ vote in order to proceed in the selection, with up to a potential 40% coming from the 4-member jury panel.

The judging members consist of the following:

  • Static & Ben-El Tavori: Israeli musical pop group
  • Keren Peles: Israeli singer-songwriter, poetess and a pianist
  • Harel Skaat: Israel singer-songwriter; former representative at Eurovision 2010
  • Assaf Amdursky: Israeli singer, songwriter and music producer

As we have seen in previous shows, this year’s Next Star selection gives the 2 hosts the option to save a potential act from elimination if the artist fails to receive 70% of the ‘Yes’ vote, meaning that act will be given the chance to advance in the contest.

How many more acts will qualify from the sixteenth show of The Next Star? Stay tuned for the results of tonight’s show later this evening!
