RTCG has applied to compete at the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Portugal and there is no reason to believe that we will not see the Balkan country in the contest next year. The country has had a long tradition of selecting its Eurovision hopeful via an internal selection.
More details and information is expected to be released in due course.
In 2017 Slavko Kalezić was selected via an internal selection by the Montenegrin broadcaster to fly to Kyiv. He represented his homeland with Space, despite a catchy peformance he failed to qualify to the Grand Final.
Montenegro in Eurovision
Montenegro debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2007 as a solo country and is yet to win the competition. The country has only made it twice to the Grand Final (2015, 2017), whilst its best result to date is a 13th place achieved by Knez in Vienna.
The 2018 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 8, 10 and 12 May in Lisbon, Portugal.
The deadline for broadcasters to officially apply for Eurovision 2018 concluded on 15 September. Hereafter, countries have a grace period to confirm their participation or withdraw their application without a penalty until 10 October.
The final list of the 2018 Eurovision participating countries is expected to be released by the EBU later during the year.
