The demo version of the Dutch entry in the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest has been published and it is performed by Pierre Kartner, who wrote the song. The song is called Ik ben verliefd (Sha-la-lie) meaning I am in love (Sha-la-lie).

Six different versions of this song will be performed by six different artists in the Dutch national final on 7th February. Pierre Kartner has already written the Dutch entry in 1973, which was called De oude muizkant. The song finished 14th among 17 contestants.

Reactions to the song so far were mixed. DJ Daniël Dekker, host of the radio show, said: "I think this song will be a very big hit. It sounds very international to my ears." Cornald Maas, Dutch commentator in Oslo along with Daniël Dekker commentes: "It's not a very cotemporary song. It reminds me of the seventies. To be honest; it's not really my cup of tea, but it will stand out because its unique style."

In 2009, the Netherlands were represented by De Topper with the song Shine. They finished 17th in the second semi final thus not qualifying for the final. The last time the Netherlands have qualified for a Eurovision final was in 2004.
