The Portuguese national broadcaster, RTP, will participate at the 2010 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest using a similar song selection method as this year. No final decisions have been made yet.

The Head of Delegation of Portugal, José Poaires, confirmed to esctoday.com that RTP will participate next year at the Eurovision Song Contest in Norway. The meeting to decide on the way the songs will be selected for Festival da Canção will take place in October. It will probably be a similar process to this year's song selection.

In 2009, RTP held an open call for songs having recived 393 candidacies. From those, 24 were put to vote over the internet and finally 12 were granted a place at the Portuguese national final. The overall winner was the group Flor-de-Lis with the song Todas as ruas do amor.

Portugal scored a place in the 2009 final in Moscow for the second year in a row, where it came 15th with 58 points.
