The results are in from the first semi final in the Hungarian national selection, A Dal. Out of the nine competitors, four are moving forward to the final, which takes place on 18 February.

Tonight’s show, hosted by Csilla Tatár & Levente Harsányi, saw an initial total of three qualifiers chosen by a mix of jury (80%) and app voting (20%), while a fourth qualifier will be chosen afterwards by televoting only.

The first three qualifiers, chosen by mixture of jury and app votes, were:

1. Gina Kanizsa – Fall like rain (Jury votes: 10, 10, 10, 10 / Public vote: 5 / Combined: 45)
2. Joci Pápai – Origo (Jury votes: 9, 10, 10, 9 / Public vote: 7 / Combined: 45)
3. Gigi Radics – See it through (Jury votes: 8, 9, 9, 9 / Public vote: 7 / Combined: 42)

Then televoting only was used in order to pick the fourth qualifier, which was:

• Soulwave – Kalandor (Jury votes: 7, 8, 8, 7 / Public vote: 7 / Combined: 37)

That means that Chase, Spoon 21, Dávid Henderson, Viki Singh and The Couple were all eliminated from the selection, having received the fewest amount of votes in tonight’s show. Tomorrow night sees the second semi-final of the selection, in which 4 more acts will qualify to the final of the competition.

Next Saturday, 18 February, the final of A Dal 2017 will take place, with 8 acts competing to represent Hungary in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kyiv.
