On Wednesday 1 February, the girls of O’G3NE christened their very own tulip variety, named after them in honour of their upcoming Eurovision participation.

The Tulipa OG3NE was selected by, and then especially created for, the sisters of O’G3NE. The flower is dedicated to their Eurovision 2017 participation, and hence has a distinct, soft and warm orange colour, the national colour of the Netherlands. Sisters Lisa, Amy and Shelley Vol are very proud of this honour, as they said at the christening of the tulip:

We immediately knew it was going to be this tulip. The colour symbolizes our participation in the Eurovision Song Contest, and the fringed flower petals are unique and special. We are very proud of our own tulip!

The Tulipa OG3NE is created by tulip cultivating company Remarkable Tulips, and is a gift to O’G3NE by Remarkable Tulips, radio station 100% NL and the Dutch community of tulip growers. DJ Koen Hansen of 100% NL stated:

With their own tulip we are wishing O’G3NE the best of luck. Not only are they representing the Netherlands in Kyiv, but next week they also have a chance of winning an 100% NL Award, the public prize for Dutch pop-music.

O’G3NE christened their tulip with champagne at Wesselman Flowers in Roelofarendsveen.

Tulip Promotions Netherlands (TPN) will list the tulip in the International Cultivar Register of Tulip Names. TPN chairman Arjan Smit says:

The tulip is a succesful Dutch visiting-card in the whole world. We hope that O’G3NE, just like the tulip, blooms beautifully on the international stage.
