The Stockholm-hosted 2016 Eurovision Song Contest is just DAYS away, with rehearsals commencing next week.  How about the promise of a little carpool karaoke to add further to the excitement…

Petra Mede and Måns Zelmerlöw, who will be hosting this year’s extravaganza, have recorded a trailer for the Contest in which they surprise a group of unsuspecting fans before they all engage upon a carpool karaoke session full of Eurovision songs.  The streets of Stockholm can have never heard anything like it…

Speaking to SVT, Måns Zelmerlöw explains:

There was not really a script…  We could play old Eurovision winners, and it was fun!

Måns also told SVT that believes that the spontaneous and playful nature of the karaoke event can help to prepare him as the presenter of Europe’s biggest TV show, as he and Petra get ready for rehearsals.

Popularised by comedian James Corden on The Late Late Show, carpool karaoke has become an international phenomenon.  The Tolmachevy Sisters, who represented Russia at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest, recently participated in carpool karaoke.

Petra, Måns and Eurovision classics… We car-not wait!

The Eurovision Song Contest 2016 takes place at the Globen Arena in Stockholm, Sweden on 10, 12 and 14 May.  Måns Zelmerlöw won the Vienna-hosted Eurovision Song Contest of 2015 with Heroes.

2016 sees Sweden represented by 17-year-old Frans and If I were sorry.
