The second of four semi finals in the Icelandic selection for the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest was held tonight. Four acts competed and two were chosen to move forward to the national final on 14th February.

The following acts have qualified for the national final:

• Ingó – Undir regnbogann(Hallgrímur Óskarsson/Eiríkur Hauksson)
• Hreindís Ylva Garðarsdóttir Holm – Vornótt(Erla Gígja Þorvaldsdóttir/Hilmir Jóhannesson)

The following acts are eliminated from the competition:

• Páll Rósinkrans – Fósturjörð (Einar Scheving/Einar Scheving)
• Erna and Lísa – Glópagull (Einar Oddsson)

In 2008, Iceland was represent by Euroband. The duo finishedeighth in the second semi final and 14th in the final with their entry This is my life.
