This year’s Eurovision host is all set for selecting its representative for Eurovision Song Contest 2016. The Austrian national selection Wer singt für Österreich? will take place on 12 February with 10 participating songs.

Nine out of the ten acts will be nominated by Eberhard Forcher, an award-winning Austrian musician and DJ, together with ORF’s Eurovision team. The chosen acts will be announced in the beginning of January.

The tenth and last act to join the national selection will be a wildcard chosen out of an open submission process. The submissions will be reviewed by Eberhard and the ORF’s team, while the best of them will go to an online-voting round, that is expected to kick off at around mid-December. The winner will then join the line-up of the national selection of 12 February.

The submission period is open and the deadline is 11 December. Songs must be submitted by sending an email to [email protected] with MP3 file attached or a link to it on a social media platform (as Soundcloud, YouTube or Facebook). The general rules regarding participating songs in Eurovision Song Contest apply. No limitations regarding the artists’ or songwriters’ nationality were mentioned.

Austria hosted this year’s Eurovision Song Contest after Conchita Wurst won in 2014 with her song Rise like a phoenix, after previously winning back in 1966. Will Austria manage to achieve a top result in Stockholm again?
