The song Nina Inhammar and Kim Kärnfalk, members of the group Friends which represented Sweden in the 2001 Eurovision Song Contest, was expected to sing in the Swedish preselection Melodifestivalen 2003, Give me your Love, is in danger of being disqualified since the two singers want to give other artists the opportunity to perform it.

“We didn't know about that rule”, Kim Kärnfalk, one of the two lead singers of Friends, the group who made a strong appearance in Köbenhavn with the song Listen to your Heartbeat, told the Swedish news paper Aftonbladet. Since they appear in the recorded version, the Swedish broadcaster SVT have the right this year to force them to participate, or their song will be disqualified and replaced by another. Untill now everyone took their appearance in Melodifestivalen 2003 for granted. “We've participated three times in the Swedish national final , now we're in need of a break. There are so many talented artists out there who deserve the participation more than we do right now”, Kim continues.

It is already known that the song Autumn Leaf, who Carola was supposed to sing, could experience the same destiny as Give me your Love is threatened with at the moment. Kim admits that the final decision hasn't yet been made: “We still haven't denied our participation. We wanted to wait for a while, and give ourselves time to find out if it would feel like the right thing to do.” SVT has already initiated a rescue operation, cause they don't want to see the song disappear from Melodifestivalen 2003: “I can't tell you how the solution we're working on looks like, but if it will be possible to realize, the menace of disqualifying the song will disappear. But nothing is ready yet”, the project leader of the Swedish national final, Thomas Hall, said.

During the winter and spring next year, the two girls will be working on a new CD, whose the first single probably will be in the stores before the summer holidays.
