Conchita Wurst, who represented Austria at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest, last night made an appearance on the BBC 1 shows The One Show and Newsnight.

At 20:00 CEST (19:00 BST), Conchita Wurst appeared on the television show The One Show alongside singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor where she discussed her Eurovision experience and the public reaction after the contest.

Alex Jones, The One Show presenter, went on to ask Conchita about some of the backlash she has received since winning the 2014 contest. Conchita answered:

Well I don’t really focus on negativity at all because there’s nothing which brings me further by thinking about that […] But actually, I have to say that when politicians, like really famous ones, say that I’m the reason why Europe will crash into pieces, I have to say [that] I’ve never received a bigger honour. Because they think I’m that powerful… thank you. I don’t want to disappoint you but I’m just a drag queen.

Towards the end of the show, Alex Jones asked Conchita about the rumours regarding the Rise like a phoenix singer performing on the Lady Gaga tour.

Well, I have to set this clear now because I heard it too and I was calling my manager and I said “Check your emails! What is this about? What is it?!” and he said “Well I’m sorry but we don’t have an official question.”

After Conchita made her appearance on The One Show, she then went on to make a short appearance on BBC Newsnight. You can check out the interview below.
