Sir Cliff Richard spoke about this year's Eurovision Song Contest. The runner-up in the 1968 Eurovision Song Contest praised the winners Ell & Nikki and said that they had a very good song. In addition he also acknowledged Blue's effort in the contest. The singer was in Malta to perform in a gala dinner concert.

Upon his arrival in Malta the English pop star addressed the press and asked by esctoday.com about his successful career he referred to nowadays music industry. He said that the current music industry is not in a very good condition. He referred to his number ones in the charts and felt honoured to make it so high.

Richard spoke about his two Eurovision experiences and though he didn’t win the contest his Eurovision entry was released as a single and managed to be the fastest selling single. Cliff Richard represented the United Kingdom twice in the Eurovision Song Contest. In 1968 he competed with Congratulations and lost the first place by just one point and five years later his entry Power to All Our Friends placed third.
