The 2017 Swedish Eurovision national selection aka Melodifestivalen has concluded today in Stockholm where a total of 12 acts battled for the golden ticket to Kyiv. Robin Bengtsson was crowned the winner of Melodifestivalen 2017 and will fly to Ukraine to defend the Swedish colours at the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest.
28 acts, 6 cities and 6 weeks of pure Swedish Melfest entertainment have surely entertained us all and kept us glued for more than 6 weeks on our television screens, computers, laptops and phones in order to follow the most popular and famed Eurovision national selection.
Countless weeks of hard work, excitement, anticipation, suspense have come to an end tonight as the 2017 edition of Melodifestivalen has officially closed. Tonight we witnessed an extraordinary show at Stockholm’s Friends Arena where 12 candidates battled for a ticket to Kyiv. Robin Bengtsson will have the honour of representing Sweden at the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest with I can’t go on.

Sweden has traditionally selected its Eurovision act via Melodifestivalen since its debut in 1958. The Scandinavian country is one of the most successful countries in the competition having achieved a total of 6 victories (1974, 1984, 1991, 1999, 2012 and 2015) and 23 top 5 placements.
Sweden will participate in the first half of the first semi-final on 9 May.
The 62nd Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 9, 11 and 13 May 2017 at the IEC in Kyiv, Ukraine.
