40 countries will be taking part in the 60th Eurovision Song Contest which will be held in Vienna on 19, 21 and 23 May. The next country to be introduced is Slovenia. Singing for Slovenia this year is Maraaya.

Maraaya is a duo, made of Marjetka Vovk and Aleš Vovk (known as ’Raay’). The duo’s name is a combination of the two’s names, while the pronunciation means ’She has Raay’ in Slovenian. They are a married couple and have two sons.

Marjetka has graduated from the Ljubljana Academy of Music and now teaching vocalists at her musical workshops, while Raay is the most played songwriter on the Slovenian charts. He is also responsible for Slovenia’s 2014 Eurovision and Junior Eurovision entries, Round and round and Nisi sam (Your light). The duo was formed in 2014 as their first single, Lovin’ me, was released.

Together, they won EMA 2015, the Slovene national final for Eurovision 2015, beating seven other artists in the first round, and winning the superfinal with 7311 votes compared to the runner-up’s 5449.
