Anabela, who represented Portugal in the 1993 Eurovision Song Contest, plays the part of Maria at the Portuguese version of Sound of Music (Música no coração). The musical goes on tour after being for a year in Lisbon with more than a million spectators. The show will be at Rivoli Theatre in Oporto, Portugal's second largest city.
Sound of Music is the third musical in a row that Anabela does and all of them have been tremendous successes. In 2005, sheplayed the part of Eliza Dolittle in My fair ladyand the following year she was Alice in A canção de Lisboa, a musical that depicted a famous Portuguese film from the 50's. The combined attendance of the three musicals is around five million people, making them unprecedented hits in this kind of show in Portugal.
The man behind the production and adaptation from the original versions is called Filipe LaFéria and he is famous for putting upbig shows with big casts and state-of-the-art stages. La Feria brought to Portugal the excellence of musicals from the Westend in Londonand Broadway inNew York.
The premiere of Musica no Coração in Oporto is 9 December. The cast of this showcomprises 53 actors, among them are 23 children.There isn't yet a confirmed period of time of duration of the tour.
