Yesterday, Wednesday 11 March, the place to be was in Stockholm as the official Melodifestivalen Welcome party took place in the City Hall.

This was the opportunity to mingle with the successful artists who have qualified for the Final of Europe’s biggest national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. In a very relaxed atmosphere the soloists, duets and trios who will be on the stage of the Friend’s Arena in Solna, Stockholm, talked to a selected number of the Press about the upcoming rehearsals and the big show on Saturday.

Eric Saade was always in demand as television crews from many channels strived for his time. The ever smiling Magnus Carlsson was taking it all in his stride, simply being happy to have got to the final. Samir (of the duet with Viktor) chatted about his experiences over the past couple of weeks and that sometimes he needed peace and quiet to cope with everything. Asking Måns Zelmerlöw about how his routine was practised as he can’t see the images we do on the screen. His informative reply was that the graphics were designed around him and not the other way round.

The ever lovely Sanna Nielsen arrived a little later with her co-host Robin Paulsson.

It was so flattering when she came over to chat  and was able to recount our interview in Copenhagen were we discussed that music is an essential part of every day of her life. We chatted about the job of hosting Melodifestivalen and she told us that she was very pleased that she could add all sorts of other skills during the run of the show.

Here is a selection of photos from the evening.
