This Sunday, swiss tabloid newspaper claims that Paolo Meneguzzi will represent the country at the Eurovision Song Contest in Belgrade. The news appears on the national broadcaster's news website, however it has not yet been confirmed by the department responsible for Switzerland's participation at the competition.
Paolo Meneguzzi is known in Italy after competing four times at the San Remo music festival. His fame in Italian speaking Europe will also be of interest to the population of the Eurovision Song Contest's newest member, San Marino. Although popular in the Italian speaking parts of Switzerland, he isless well known to the German and French speaking areas of the country.
Meneguzzi is 31 years of age and has participated in several music festivals and competitions. He is an acomplished live performer and was selected as OGAE Italy's representative in the 2004 OGAE Song Contest with the song Guardami negli occhi.
