At midnight tonight, the second annual esctoday.com awards voting begins. Below, you can see the final nominations for 2007. This year, some new awards have been added. For the first time, we are honouring lyricists alongside composers, vocal performances as well as overall performances, the best act not to qualify from the semi final and of course, the Eurovision Dance Contest. From midnight tonight, you will be able to vote for all your favourite entries from the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest. Polls remain open until 23rd December, and on Christmas Eve, 24th December, the readers of esctoday.com and Eurovision Song Contest fans will know who they have chosen to be honoured for their efforts this year.

NEW AWARDS CATEGORIES
Alongside the new awards forlyricist of the year, best male and female vocalists and the Eurovision Dance Contest awards, esctoday.com has introduced another award this year: Most traditional Europop Song. This award is for fans of the Eurovision Song Contest that enjoy entries that are seen as 'traditional' or 'old style' Eurovision Song Contest entries. We have introduced this award because we recognise the variety of entries in the competition, and that some songs are their to please the fans whilst they may no longer expect to achieve victory in the current music scene.

We have also decided to remove the Commentator of the year category, primarily because viewers will only have seen the broadcast with their home country commentator. The esctoday.com team felt that this award would not be objective. We considered introducing a 'most complicated national final of the year' award, but decided there would be no competition for Lithuania's traffic light system.

We've tried to include as many people as possible whilst staying true to the categories in which they appear. These awards are not designed to cause catfights in the reactions, quite the opposite. We are just over a month away from Christmas, Channukah is round the corner and Europe is sliding into a wintery chill once again. It's also a stressful time with ticket sales stress shoving up the international price of prozac and we're only four weeks from the first national final for the2008 Eurovision Song Contest. So, here's your chance to have some fun!
